CHARLESTON, W.Va.-The West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is planning to open a new, permanent Regional Office location in Parkersburg by late summer 2012. The structure will be built on Division of Highways’ property adjacent to the Eagles building located at 627 Lubeck Avenue. The construction contract on the 9,000 square foot building should be awarded in March, 2012.
The new, full-service, state-of-the-art regional office will be built on approximately 1.25-1.50 acres of land, and be situated beside property that will be used for DOH offices as well. A new motorcycle testing course will also be built on the land. The office will feature additional space for hearing examiners and teleconferencing.
Currently, DMV customers are able to receive most services at the temporary site in the Park Shopping Center, adjoining the National College building at 110 Park Center Drive. The temporary location has been open since mid-August, 2011, and services include vehicle titling, driver’s skills testing, driver’s license and identification card renewal, and vehicle registration renewals, which are the bulk of DMV’s transactions.
Commissioner Miller would like to thank the citizens of Parkersburg and the surrounding area for their patience as DMV moves towards a permanent location.
