PRINCETON, W.Va. (AP) - A former Princeton office accused of trying to obtain sexual favors from a teenage boy has pleaded guilty to a bribery charge.
Media outlets say 27-year-old Christopher Winkler entered his plea to solicitation of bribery Tuesday in Mercer County Circuit Court.
Under a plea agreement, an attempted sexual abuse charge was dismissed. Winkler also can never serve as a police officer again.
Police say Winkler offered to reduce a debt the teen owed him in exchange for sexual favors. He was on duty at the time of the incident on March 1, 2011.
Sentencing is set for Dec. 10.
