Firefighters: Blast At Ohio Oil Well Site Kills 1

BOLIVAR, Ohio (AP) - Firefighters say one person was killed in an explosion at an oil- and gas-well site in northeast Ohio.

The Times Reporter in the Dover-New Philadelphia area says the blast happened Monday morning near Bolivar, about 65 miles south of Cleveland.

An employee at a nearby group home says he felt the ground start to shake and looked toward the oil well. He says the cover of a storage tank shot about 100 feet into the air, and fuel leaked down a driveway and into a field.

It wasn't immediately clear how the fatality occurred or what caused the explosion.

Responders from more than a half-dozen departments helped to get the resulting fire under control. Hazardous-materials crew were trying to contain the fuel spill.
