CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Free legal assistance is available for West Virginia residents whose property was damaged during a severe windstorm on June 29.

The American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and Legal Aid of West Virginia are partnering to offer the Disaster Legal Services program.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says callers will be matched with attorneys who have volunteered to participate. The agency is providing funding for the program.

The assistance includes how to obtain FEMA and other government benefits; file life, medical and property insurance claims and replace legal documents such as wills that were destroyed by the storm.

Storm victims can call the program at (877) 331-4259.
