CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Meteorologists say last month was the hottest July in Charleston in 75 years.
National Weather Service meteorologist Tim Axford says it went down as the sixth hottest July in the city's history with a daily average of 79.2 degrees. The Charleston Daily Mail reports there were 17 days when the thermometer climbed to 90 degrees or higher. The average is about nine such days.
Axford says he expects temperatures to be more normal in August.
