Manchin Stumps For Tomblin In W.V. Gov Race Ad

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - In West Virginia's special election for governor, acting Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin is trumpeting the support of the man who last held the job.

U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin appears in a new TV ad declaring his fellow Democrat the right man to keep West Virginia on course.

The 30-second spot also aims to remind voters of the array of endorsements that Tomblin has received from business groups, labor unions and newspapers.

The ad is one of several with positive themes that Tomblin has launched in the campaign's final week. But there are still plenty of negative ads, including at least one from Tomblin.

The Republican Governors Association recently reported spending another $1 million since Friday to attack Tomblin.

The election is Oct. 4. Early voting ends Saturday.
