WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - Logan native and "America's Got Talent" winner Landau Eugene Murphy will perform a free concert to celebrate West Virginia's 149th birthday.
Murphy is set to perform June 16 at Wheeling's Heritage Port.
The state's official holiday, West Virginia Day, is June 20. West Virginia became a state on June 20, 1863.
WTOV-TV says city officials have been working hard to secure the deal.
Marketing Director Allison O'Konski says it's just one of many free summer events Wheeling will offer.
Murphy won the NBC talent show contest last fall. He's been touring worldwide, and shows in his home state have been sellouts.
Murphy even performed at the inauguration of a fellow Logan County product, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin.
