No Bond For W.V. Man Charged In Baby's Death

ELKINS, W.V. (AP) - A Harrison County man will remain in jail while he awaits trial on a first-degree murder charge in the death of his girlfriend's baby.

The Inter-Mountain says Lewis County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Keadle denied 23-year-old Christopher Thomas Sheppard's request for a bond hearing this week.

Keadle had revoked Sheppard's original $50,000 bond on Nov. 10 after the Hepzibah man was indicted by a Lewis County grand jury.

Sheppard's trial is scheduled for Feb. 21, 2012.

Prosecutors say Sheppard was babysitting at a Jane Lew apartment and left the 14-month-old boy unattended during a bath. The child fell out of the sink and landed on his head. He died of brain trauma. Sheppard is accused of doing nothing until the mother returned home.
