Ohio Dems' 2014 Ticket To Highlight Women's Health

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio Democrats seeking statewide office this fall are coupling criticism of Republican-backed abortion restrictions with a pledge to make women's health issues a priority in the campaign.

The party's full 2014 slate appeared together for the first time Wednesday to accept endorsements from abortion and women's health care provider Planned Parenthood.

State Sen. Nina Turner, a candidate for secretary of state, says women's access to health care is important to the wellbeing of Ohio's families and economy. State Rep. John Patrick Carney, running for state auditor, says laws restricting medical care are driving doctors out of the state.

Ohio Right to Life, the state's leading anti-abortion group, says Democrats are looking for campaign donations from abortion-rights proponents while Republicans defend Ohioans' widely held opposition to abortion.
