Ohio Dems Question Taylor's Response to Timecards

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio Democrats are raising questions about the lieutenant governor's reaction to irregularities found on her top aide's timesheets.

Republican Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor's chief of staff and another staffer resigned last week following issues with their timesheets. Taylor referred the matter to the state's inspector general and the State Highway Patrol to review.

But Ohio's Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern told reporters Thursday that was "not a credible response" because the inspector general used to work for Taylor when she was state auditor.

A spokesman for Inspector General Randall Meyer says he has sworn an oath to be impartial and will be in any of the matters that he addresses.

Republicans have previously accused Democratic governor's candidate Ed FitzGerald of politicizing the Cuyahoga County watchdog's office.
