COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A state lawmaker from Youngstown says Democrats will stick together and oppose a revised map of Ohio congressional districts that's scheduled for a vote Thursday in the Republican-led Ohio House.
Rep. Robert Hagan said Democrats received email Wednesday night from their chief of staff indicating the GOP does not have the votes to pass the map.
Republican House Speaker William Batchelder scheduled a news conference on the matter at noon.
Hagan said the head of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus told fellow Democrats during a conference call Tuesday that none of its members would defect to support the map.
An aide said Rep. John Barnes, a black Cleveland Democrat who's not a member, may miss Thursday's vote for a funeral. He supported an earlier map Democrats have targeted for repeal.
