Ohio Police Arrest 3 Occupy Protesters Near Campus

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Police in an Ohio college town have arrested three Occupy protesters after telling them to clear out their tents last week.

Officers in Bowling Green made the arrests early Monday, charging three people with obstructing official business. One protester also was charged with resisting arrest.

The group set up camp six weeks ago not far from Bowling Green State University. Police say the group violated a city ordinance that says sidewalks and public areas should be kept clear.

The Sentinel-Tribune newspaper reports police surrounded the camp and told the protesters they had two minutes to get out. Two people refused to leave, so officers began using sheers to cut open the tent.

Police had ordered the protesters pack up last week, but the tents remained through the weekend.
