Ohio State Rep Moves To New House District

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Squeezed into a new Ohio House district with a fellow Democrat, one state representative has decided to pack up and move across town to avoid a re-election battle.

Rep. Teresa Fedor says she's unpacking in her new house on the east side of Toledo after moving out of a district she was drawn into with fellow Democratic Rep. Matt Szollosi. The district she moved into has no incumbent.

Fedor accuses Republicans of intentionally lumping her into a district with Szollosi to force a primary battle. New districts must be drawn each decade to reflect population changes.

House GOP spokesman Mike Dittoe says Fedor's assertion is "knowingly absurd." He says her district was redrawn in order to keep minority communities in Toledo under the same representative.
