A former Ohio governor is nominated as one of the alternate representatives of the United Nations General Assembly.

President Obama nominates Ted Strickland.

Strickland's nomination for the mostly ceremonial job would have to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Strickland says the job would involve moving to New York, giving speeches and helping the country's ambassador to the United Nations.

He says he's looking forward to the new experience.
