CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Randy Mayhew has been named director of the agency that provides security at the West Virginia Capitol Complex.
Acting Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced his appointment of Mayhew to the Division of Protective Services' top position Monday. Mayhew had served as the agency's acting director since March.
Mayhew replaces Jay Smithers, who was appointed as superintendent of the State Police in March.
Mayhew has been with the Division of Protective Services since 2001. He previously served with the Charleston Police Department for 27 years.
