MARIETTA (Tuesday, January 17, 2012) – District 10 of the Ohio Department of Transportation announces that a project to upgrade Township Road 209 (Monastery Road) to State Route 607 and attract future economic development to the area is scheduled to begin work.
Crews from R. F. Scurlock will realign 0.58 miles of road between the McConnelsville National Guard Training Site and the ODOT Morgan County garage. R. F. Scurlock was awarded a contract for approximately $1.5 million in December of 2011.
Preliminary operations for the realignment project are set to begin this spring, and work will continue as weather permits.
The second phase of the project, once the realignment project is complete, includes resurfacing slated for both ends of the new SR 607 (0.7 miles on SR 60 end and 0.4 miles on SR 78 end). The resurfacing project is scheduled to sell in January 2013.
According to ODOT District 10 Deputy Director T. Steve Williams, this project will bring positive changes to the county. “Not only will this investment allow motorists to travel a better road, but by upgrading the roads in Morgan County, we are making the area more attractive for economic development.”
This project was a collaborative effort between Morgan County elected officials, the Community Improvement Corporation, and ODOT.
