SISTERSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - The Sistersville Ferry is resuming service after it was idled for about a week by a transmission problem.

Ferry board chairman John Eckles tells The Intelligencer that the ferry has been repaired. It's scheduled to resume operations Monday.

The ferry shuttles passengers across the Ohio River between Sistersville and Fly, Ohio. The ferry service began in 1815.

The Wells Inn in Sistersville is offering discounts on meals to celebrate the restart of ferry service. Owner Charles Winslow says the ferry is important to the inn.
