DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - An employee shot in the ankle at an Ohio veterans hospital says he thought the retired co-worker charged in the shooting had a toy gun and came to play cards.

Paul Burnside says he and another person struggled with suspect Neil Moore in a break room Monday. Burnside says someone pushed Moore's hand holding the gun, and a shot hit the ceiling. Burnside says he and someone else grabbed Moore's arms, and a second shot hit Burnside.

Authorities say Moore warned those in the room not to "mess" with his family. Burnside says he's unsure who Moore was warning.

Burnside couldn't be reached Thursday. His telephone listings are disconnected.

Moore is charged with an assault count and a weapons count. His attorney didn't return calls.

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - A city official says a suspect is in police custody after a shooting at a Veterans Affairs hospital in Ohio that left one person with a minor injury.

Dayton spokesman Bryan Taulbee says the male suspect was taken into custody Monday afternoon after someone dropped him off at a hospital.

Taulbee says one person suffered a minor leg injury at the VA clinic in Dayton. Taulbee didn't know if the victim was a man or woman.

Taulbee says there were no other shooters involved.

Authorities blocked roads leading to the hospital complex.

Employees tell media outlets at least part of the complex was locked down around the lunch hour on Monday. Video from WDTN shows employees leaving the center while FBI agents go inside.
