MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Morgantown police say a state lawmaker was unintentionally shot by his son, who then apparently committed suicide.
Police said Monday in a news release that Delegate Anthony Barill was asleep early Saturday morning when a bullet went through the floor and the bed and hit him in the lower leg.
The 80-year-old Barill told police that his son, Bradley, might have fired the shot.
Police say members of a special police response team found Bradley Barill in the residence with wounds that appeared to be self-inflicted. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Anthony Barill taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said Monday she had no information about him.
