W.Va. Gov Extends Flood Tax Relief In 11 Counties

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Tax relief has been extended to residents and businesses in 11 West Virginia counties hit by flooding and wind damage in March.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin signed an executive order Thursday extending relief for taxpayers in the counties of Doddridge, Harrison, Lincoln, Logan, Marion, Mingo, Monongalia, Preston, Ritchie, Taylor and Wayne.

The order continues through July 14 the suspension of certain consumer and use taxes.

Residents seeking to make a tax-exempt purchase should file an exemption certificate and attach a verification document. In the case of mobile home purchases, a copy of a FEMA housing assistance letter must be attached.

Those buying building construction materials and supplies must attach the assistance letter, an insurance claim's proof of settlement or an insurance adjuster's record of damage inspection.
