A little kindness goes a long way.

And a Parkersburg woman wanted to pay it forward towards a worker from a local restaurant tonight.

Heather Shedd's friend passed away last week.

As the funeral procession made its way down Division Street, Shedd saw Little Caesar's worker, Mark Powers, bow his head.

The gesture of respect really touched Shedd and so she wanted to pay it forward.

Shedd and her family last night collected more than $600 in donations.

Thursday, she surprised Powers with a Christmas gift he'd never forget.

"We just want to make sure that we're not the ones in the center of this story, but this was an act of kindness and we want people to remember that you see the shootings and the bad things on TV but we want people to know there are a lot of good out there as well," says Shedd.

This isn't the only time Powers was spotted bowing his head during a funeral procession.

According to an email Shedd received, Powers does this for every procession that drives by.
