Adult Drug Court

Lawyers, social workers and educators got to further their legal education with an intensive drug court event.

Darren Tallman, Wood County Juvenile Drug Court and Family Court judge says the program allows the justices to talk to the community about their drug courts.

He says these are the same people who may interact with those who need drug court and it increases awareness.

“We're hoping to educate professionals and members of the public in what kind of treatment programs are available, what we do in drug court and just what the dangers are out there to our community right now,” Tallman says.

Adult drug court has been in Wood County about five years and juvenile drug court is coming up on its third anniversary.

So they've done programs like this before, but Tallman says the turnout for their recent event was really good -- more than 100 people attended.
