Hard to believe the summer's almost over, school is less than a month away and The Salvation Army is here to help.
"We're ready for those kids that need to come in here and their families that need extra assistance with the clothing vouchers," says Lt. Mechelle Henry. "Our thrift store's open for them.”
The vouchers are for gently used clothing.
They have name brand clothes.
"You find Hollister clothes here, American Eagle – nice book bags; it's really cool,” says Brittany Shingleton, 16, of Parkersburg.
Head over to the social service office.
"And ask for additional clothing vouchers so they can get $25 per child,” Henry says.
According to social worker Cathy Donaway, they need to provide their name, number of children and income.
"We follow standard poverty guidelines as every other social service agency, but we are willing to discuss their situation on an individual basis," Donaway says.
Vouchers really make a difference.
"They are a great help, in aiding to add to the stuff that you already have,” says Terry Airall, mom to a 10-year-old and 4-year old.
The Salvation Army has a center here in Parkersburg and more than 7,000 others across the United States."
"It's especially for those families that are really struggling to get back to school and provide the things that they need for each of their children,” Henry says.
"Get a lot of things at discounted prices, very reasonable,” Airall says.
"It helps us a lot in the past year that we go through,” Shingleton says.
She appreciates that they're always "doing the most good" to feed, clothe, comfort and care for others.
"I think it's a nice thing that The Salvation Army is doing for people that need help in getting clothes and stuff."
Whether you're looking for school clothes or supplies, you can find it all at The Salvation Army.
