In the holiday spirit, the Junior League of Parkersburg hosted an event Saturday morning where people got to tour one of the city's historic landmarks.

It was all part of the league's open house, celebrating Christmas colonial style.

People came out to the Cook House on Murdoch Avenue to tour the second oldest building in Parkersburg.

The fun included listening and the kids getting a picture with Santa.

"I think if we don't show the community this history, we're going to lose it. Our old generations are passing quickly and so we need to show some information so they can learn to appreciate it the way we do," says Junior League of Parkersburg Member, Kristi Bond.

The Cook House was built in 1829.

It's listed in the national register of historic places.
