Children in need get to dream the unimaginable and the Parmar Store in Parkersburg hosted an event to help them achieve those dreams.

"It’s just an awesome time for everybody in the community to come support Make-A-Wish,” says Lisa Lockhart of Vienna, whose son Trent was on hand representing the organization.

They're holding a month-long kick-off campaign with far reaching effects.

"To sell these stars for Make-A-Wish for $1 a piece to our customers to raise money for Make-A-Wish,” says Jan Vineyard, president of West Virginia Oil Marketers and Grocers Association (OMEGA).

Words just can't explain.

"I mean, you see sick children all the time, but the difference in granting a child a wish is, you know -- it makes all the difference in the world to their overall well being,” says Tambra Cheman, regional development and community liaison for Make-A-Wish West Virginia.

Making the day of some sick children and giving them the dream of a lifetime that they'll never forget.

"The way they want to get up in the morning and look forward to things,” Cheman says. “Statistics show there's a 70 percent improvement in their condition when they're looking forward to a wish or been granted a wish."

It's as simple as heading over to a Parmar.

"We encourage people in the area to come out to their local convenience stores and grocery stores and buy $1 at a time to make a difference,” Vineyard says.

A dream trip Trent will never forget.

"He has autism and a seizure disorder and he qualified for a Make-A-Wish trip two years ago,” Lockhart says. “His wish was to meet the Pittsburgh Steelers, so he got the opportunity."

The money raised throughout the month of August will help other kids across the region get to have an experience just like Trent did.
