Marietta Main Street held a meeting Wednesday night as they want to make the city a holiday destination that brings visitors in.
Representatives from area businesses stopped by the non-profit organization to brainstorm ideas that will attract visitors to downtown Marietta.
Marietta Main Street Executive Director, Jean Farmer, had ideas submitted including a 5K Santa Run, Christmas lights display at East Muskingum Park and cross promoting the area.
"It brings people downtown and we're a main street organization and one of our main goals is to bring people downtown. When people come to see the holiday lights or to see the events or to see whatever's happening in your downtown, that brings people to our businesses, it makes our community prosper," says Farmer.
Also during the meeting, representatives discussed funding and volunteering for the holiday festivities downtown.
They'll host another meeting at a later date to finalize their ideas.
