The holiday season is another wonderful time of the year to salute our veterans.
Saturday, a special remembrance in Wood County for our men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
In recognition of national "Wreaths Across America Day", the "Wreaths Across America" campaign came to Parkersburg City Park.
The non-profit organization met with members of the Parkersburg Composite Civil Air Patrol.
The local Air Force Auxiliary branch helps fundraise for the "wreaths" campaign.
Veterans laid those wreaths at the City Park Veterans Memorial
In-honor of all six branches of the military, including Prisoners Of War, and those missing in action.
"We have to remember that our freedoms didn't come free, they were brought with a price and it is to teach our children and our area of residents that we have to remember those who are serving our country," says Parkersburg Composite Civil Air Patrol Air Force Auxiliary Captain, Aaron Richards.
Celebrating the campaign around the country, an estimated 10,000 volunteers participated in laying wreaths on graves at Arlington Nation Cemetery.
