Saturday is filled with opportunities to donate to Toys for Tots. Their kick-off celebration starts at City Park with a 1 mile fun run at 9 am.
Then things are moving to Toys "R" Us in front of Grand Central Mall. Every year stores in the area participate in the program as drop off locations.
You'll see those big boxes start popping up within the next week.
As always, the program needs your help to make Christmas a special day for kids across the valley.
"We've actually been contacted by some of the local agencies, they're requesting toys already so I'm sure the need is going to be just as great if not greater. It never fails that in an election year people get sidetracked and for some reason Christmas seems to come in late so I'm hoping we get a huge rush during the month of November so December doesn't overwhelm us too much," says Toys for Tots Spokesperson and U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Cliff Hecker.
They accept toys for ages 6 months through 12 years old. The final day for donations is December 14th.
