Some changes on the way for Wood County's cemetery.
They include some restrictions.
The Wood County Historical Society is seeking a grant to help identify and replace the white crosses at the cemetery with permanent markers like this one.
The crosses have made it difficult for county workers to maintain the cemetery.
"If you want to go this route, we'll cover the cost of this year," says Society President Bob Enoch, "and, if we get the grant, we'll replace the others. That will make mowing and care of that a lot easier."
Enoch is also suggesting headstones placed by family members be at ground level instead of upright, and that families be notified that flowers and other memorials will be removed no later than two weeks after burial ceremonies.
