Rainy weather caused multiple car accidents in Belpre on Wednesday.
The accidents happened at the toll bridge intersection and US 50 down ramp intersection.
Police Chief Ernest Clevenger says when it rains after a long dry spell, debris that drips from cars on intersection approaches can develop a film on the wet roadway similar to black ice.
“We've had five collisions at that intersection thus far during the day and as long as it keeps raining we're probably going to continue to have that problem throughout the evening,” Clevenger says.
The police chief recommends drivers in the area reduce their speed as they approach and drive defensively.
He says it can mean the difference between making it to your destination or leaving in a tow truck.
