Highway safety is something that affects everyone, whether it be securing your child in a safety seat or simply crossing the road.
Many people contribute to the safety of our roads, but Tuesday the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Highway Safety Program recognized some of those who volunteer their time to promote safety issues.
Mary McFadden and Tammy Fouss with the Division of Motor Vehicles, along with MaryAnne Osborne, who runs the safety program, were awarded for going beyond their regular call of duty.
"They devote many volunteer hours to doing this. It's stuff that isn't part of their job description that they have to do," Toni Tiano, with the Regional Highway Safety Program, said.
This is the fifth year for the Safety Advocate Award Program.
