Officials in Marietta are waiting to see just how much the recently passed stimulus package will benefit the city.

Mayor Michael Mullen says the city has requested about $16 million in shovel ready projects.

Mayor Mullen says the majority of the money would go toward upgrading the waste water treatment plant, while the rest would go toward projects like street repairs, energy efficiency and the national guard armory project.

"We know we won't get our entire wish list, but we've got very good, very worthwhile projects that make a lot of impact in Marietta and Washington County," Mayor Mullen said.

Mayor Mullen also says Marietta is competing with other townships and counties in the state to receive the funding.
