A showboat that's been in Marietta for more than three decades may soon need to find a new home.
At the next city council meeting the Public Lands and Building committee is planning to introduce a resolution that could remove the Becky Thatcher from its current location along the Muskingum Riverbank.
Chair person Jon Grimm says he'd prefer the boat be developed into a restaurant or museum, but if that doesn't happen, that part of the riverbank could be used otherwise
"The riverbank where the Becky Thatcher is right now is not maintained. It's grown over. The current owner has not taken any steps to maintain the boat or the riverbank," Grimm said.
Grimm says he wants the resolution to go through all three reading to allow more public opinion.
