Charleston, WV (AP) -- The State Department of Transportation is making $6 million in federal stimulus funds available for various infrastructure projects.
Transportation Secretary Paul Mattox says the money will be allocated in the form of grants for transportation enhancements, recreational trails, scenic byways and safe routes to schools.
Mattox says groups applying for grant funds must show they can start their projects within six months and complete them within two years.
Projects also must be able to receive a 20 percent local match.
Congress approved stimulus funding as a way to create jobs and curb the recession.
