New Martinsville, WV (AP) -- At least five of the six men injured by battery acid at an oil and gas drilling rig in New Martinsville are out of the hospital.
The status of the sixth man, who was transferred from Wetzel County Hospital to a Morgantown hospital, was uncertain Friday.
Wetzel County Hospital Chief Executive Officer George Couch said all six men were treated for skin irritations and respiratory problems.
Investigators are still trying to figure out how the men were exposed to battery acid Wednesday at Chesapeake Energy's Procko well 20 miles east of New Martinsville.
The State Department of Environmental Protection and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
