Wheeling, W.Va. (AP) -- A South Charleston company is the apparent low bidder for renovation of the Wheeling Tunnel's westbound tube.
State Division of Highways officials told the Intelligencer that Ahern and Associates submitted a $6.7 million bid for the project.
The company that did renovation work on the eastbound tube, Velotta Co. of Sharon Center, Ohio, bid $7.3 million. Mosite Construction Co. of Pittsburgh submitted a $7.4 million bid.
Bids were opened Tuesday in Charleston.
Work on the tunnel's eastbound tube was completed last fall after an 18-month delay caused by construction problems.
