Harrisonburg, VA. (AP) -- The developer of a proposed military training facility is looking at West Virginia's Hardy County after meeting opposition from residents in the Shenandoah Valley.

The Hardy County Zoning Board of Appeals approved a special-use permit for the project last week. The center would be located near Moorefield, W.Va.

Developer Dave Dolan had sought a similar permit in Shenandoah County.

Dolan scrapped that plan in May after residents opposed the project, citing noise pollution, safety concerns and lost property values.

Dolan says nothing is official regarding the West Virginia site.

Hardy County Commission President Stanley Moyer says county and state officials are committed to the project.
