Public transportation in Parkersburg and Vienna just got an upgrade.
The Mid-Ohio Valley Transit Authority introduced new buses Wednesday that went into use immediately.
General Manager Joe Lockhart says by Thursday, six new buses will be making the daily routes, with the exception of Sundays.
The buses cost $175,000 each, but were completely paid for with grant money.
"They benefit the public because we got them with a federal grant, and Parkersburg and Vienna benefits from not having to put local money into the purchase of the buses," Lockhart said.
The buses also have new features like a low floor with only one step, a ramp that extends for wheelchairs and even a bike rack placed on the front of each bus.
