A fire in Parkersburg Thursday afternoon took a lot of manpower to put out quickly.

Firefighters responded to a structure fire at the 500 block of 32nd street, and found a house fully engulfed.

Lieutenant Melvin Turner says the majority of firefighters on duty responded to the blaze, and were able to put it out in about five minutes.

"We had to knock it down before we got inside, because just 50 feet back you couldn't' stand the heat," Lt. Turner said.

He also says the house was vacant and all utilities had been turned off.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
