Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- There's no bridging the gap in the rivalry between West Virginia and Marshall fans.
Dark blue and green are dominating the state's online poll to choose a new color for West Virginia's busiest bridge.
As of late last week, dark blue had received 45,484 votes and green had received 36,360. Red trailed with 7,051 votes, followed by light blue with 3,050 and gray with 935.
Division of Highways spokesman Brent Walker says blogs and e-mails are urging WVU and Marshall fans to vote for their school's color.
Walker says the poll results will be considered but the state will choose the color.
The new color is part of renovations planned for the Eugene A. Carter Memorial Bridge, which spans the Kanawha River near downtown Charleston.
