Flat Top, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia's largest family reunion is aiming for a spot in the Guinness World Record.

Darrell Lilly of Nimitz says organizers of the Lilly family reunion believe they can draw enough lillys to break the record set by the Busse family reunion in 1998.

That gathering drew 2,639 Busse family members to Grays Lake, Ill.

The Lilly family reunion begins Friday at the 32-acre Lilly Reunion Memorial Park in Flat Top on the Raleigh-Mercer County line.

West Virginia's oldest gathering, the pinch reunion, also begins Friday. It's the 108th annual reunion held by the Kanawha County town.

Both reunions are open to the public.
