Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- The Kanawha County Parks and Recreation Commission has been cited by the state for violating water pollution regulations during construction of a driving range.

State Department of Environmental Protection chief inspector Mike Zeto ordered the commission this week to immediately stop the violations and clean up the site.

Zeto says the order doesn't carry any monetary penalties but the dep can seek fines later.

Inspectors from the agency visited the construction site at coonskin park in July and found a lack of sediment control and waste dumped in an unpermitted area.

Kanawha County Parks director Jeff Hutchinson says the commission is addressing the problems.
