New and old blood is leading the Mid-Ohio valley chapter of the American Red Cross.
New board members and old staff members were introduced at the 92nd annual meeting Tuesday at the Parkersburg Headquarters.
Among the highlights of the business meeting:
* Shirley Lawrence-Berrey was honored for her 35 years of service as a volunteer and financial contributor with a plaque designating the Health and Safety training floor of the Mid-Ohio Valley Chapter as the Lawrence-Berrey Training Center.
* 20 individuals were recognized as Heroes for the American Red Cross, raising $23,000 for the Mid-Ohio Valley Chapter
* The Mid-Ohio Valley Chapter has been granted $21,768 in WV tax credits through the WV Neighborhood Investment Program. A minimum donation of $500 is required to receive a 50% WV tax credit.
The Red Cross provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
The Board will help to chart the course for the local chapter effort over the next year, and give direction for the administrative staff.
The Red Cross supports regional blood drives and aide to military families, among other programs.
The chapter is located on 8th Street in Parkersburg.
