Mason, Ohio (AP) -- Local officials have tabled a proposal to tax admissions and parking at an Ohio amusement park that used its huge sign and the internet to get fans on board against the plan.

The city council in Mason decided Monday to table the issue until February.

The sign outside Kings Island along interstate 71 reads, "Mason wants to tax you! Tell them no!"

The amusement park north of Cincinnati also sent tens of thousands of e-mails to people who have become fans on the park's web site and social networking sites.

The plan had called for a 3 percent tax on admissions and a 5 percent parking tax for Kings Island and nearby water park The Beach.

Proponents of the plan have said the taxes are needed for road improvements and fire and police services related to the attractions.
