UPDATE 8/21/2014 5:10 PM

Returning home to their families, following an eleven month tour of duty in Afghanistan.

The 779th receives a warm welcome home.

A reunion that's always worth the wait.

Eighteen members of the unit returned to Parkersburg Thursday afternoon.

This group has been on duty in Afghanistan for the past year.

They returned Thursday afternoon to the Army Reserve Center on Route 95.

These were the last members of the group to come home.

Several dozen others returned Wednesday night.

It's a mix of veteran soldiers - some of whom have been deployed three times - and some who were overseas for the first time.

"I learned a lot while I was over there; a lot about the culture, the heritage of the place. There's something I can take with me for the rest of my life," says Spl. C.J. Arnold

Parkersburg Mayor Bob Newell also was on hand to greet our newest heroes on their return home.

While family members hope this is the engineer company's final deployment to Afghanistan, they realize the situation there right now doesn't guarantee that.
