Charleston, W.Va. (Ap) -- A Marshall University professor says she plans to testify that West Virginia Treasurer John Perdue and his wife both made sure she knew they were state officials while contacting her on behalf of her daughter, who was one of her students.

The subsequent handling of coursework grades for Emily Perdue has apparently come under review by a federal grand jury.

The professor, Laura Wyant, and Marshall's academic provost have been subpoenaed to appear Tuesday.

Wyant had been Perdue's instructor.

She told the Associated Press she questions whether special treatment allowed the student to finish coursework that had been incomplete.

Perdue's mother heads the state grievance board. Marshall officials say they've reviewed the situation, and consider the matter closed.
