PHS, PSHS Win at WV Thespian Festival

Parkersburg High School and Parkersburg South High School actors and crew members have won awards at the West Virginia State Thespian Festival this year.

For the second year in a row Parkersburg high placed in the top five among the thirteen outstanding one-act plays at the festival that was held in Charleston April 8-10.

Audriana Davis was named the 2010 Best Actress, Danielle Grays was named the 2010 Best Supporting Actress and first place in Solo Musical Theatre Performance. Grays will be going to the 2010 International Festival in Nebraska to compete this June.

Taylor Rouse and Olivia Ullmann were named all state cast members.

Meghan Handley won second place in Stage Management, Brittani Hill won third place in fantasy make-up and Timm Romine was honored with a Best Sound Design award.

Under the direction of Amanda Witt, PHS presented "A Piece of My Heart" as its entry into the state wide competition.

Other cast members and crew from PHS included Aliza Nehls, Wesley Butcher, Adam Kiger, Devin Terlaje, Justin Fritz, Cleo Childress, Nathan Wix, Brook Wix, Christian Tennant, Catalina Trujillo Bucheli, Hailey Hughes, Darrick Phillips and Megan Newbanks.

Parkersburg South High School also attended the festival and performed "Eurydice" and their production was honored with a Best Use of Movement award.

Actors Olivia Miller and Eli Tracewell were named All State cast members.
