UPDATE 11/20/2013 5:00 PM
A fugitive who has been on the run for a month was finally arrested Saturday.
Then a judge granted his release.
Jason Lee Caplinger was on home confinement after being sentenced to 1 to 10 years on a grand larceny conviction.
Chief Deputy Shawn Graham said Caplinger cut his ankle bracelet, hiding it in his home, allowing him to escape.
While on the run police say Caplinger threatened his ex-girlfriend and her children.
Saturday authorities in Meigs County arrested Caplinger.
The Wood County Sheriff's Department requested a $50,000 bond.
Instead Judge Steve Story released Caplinger.
"I don't understand a personal recognizance bond on someone that's wanted in a 50 state radius escape warrant," says Wood County Chief Deputy Shawn Graham.
Chief Graham said the Meigs County Prosecutor's Office was very supportive and understanding of the sheriff's department's concerns and that they also weren't happy about the results of the bond hearing.
The prosecutor who handled the case was out of the office Wednesday.
We also contacted Judge Story, but no word yet.
The Wood County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man they say escaped home confinement.
The sheriff's office says Jason Lee Caplinger left 1027 Lynn Street Thursday.
He was on home confinement serving a 1 to 10 year sentence on a grand larceny charge.
There is now a warrant out on Caplinger for escape.
Caplinger is described as a 28-year-old white male, 5'11", 135 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair.
He has a cross under his right forearm and the Ohio State logo on his neck.
Anyone with information should call the Wood County Sheriff’s Office at 304-424-1945 or the 911 Communication Center.
