Some Wood County High School students attended a special assembly Friday afternoon, learning core values of being good citizens, and having a lot of fun at the same time.

The Parkersburg branch of the National Guard brought professional BMX riders to the Parkersburg South gymnasium.

Students applauded as the "Rise Above BMX Stunt Team" performed a medley of daring tricks to end the school day.

The event also highlighted the National Guard's core values of respect, integrity, and loyalty.

Organizers say the presentation is rewarding to both the students and the pro's as well.

"I love making the kids happy. I love putting smiles on kids faces," says Dan Sieg, team manager. "When you've got 1,600 kids in a gym screaming and yelling and you're upside-down, how many people can go to work everyday and say kids cheer for them."

Perhaps the highlight of the event, the pro's jumping over seven people - including four students.

And jumping over a math teacher on top of the ramp.
