The City of Belpre may be going a little more green.

The mayor's been working to get people to clean up their yards, plants and fountains and now, a step further.

The city's talking with a new sanitation company that will pick up recyclables - that's separate from other trash.

The mayor says it may be a little more expenisive for homeowners, but he says people don't realize the long term effect of dumping into landfills.

The city's contract with the current sanitation company, Kimble, ends in July.

And Mayor Mike Lorentz says it's not too soon to get in the habit of recycling.

Belpre residents may see recycling cans alongside trash cans in the city soon.

By next year, trash trucks will pick up plastics, papers and glass separate from other garbage.
